As part of our vision series #InOutUpThro we are examining each of these four movements and working out exactly how we can begin to move in that direction together as a church.
We are a church that moves through, seasoning the culture through our engagement as salt and light (Matthew 5:13-16) in the world. Therefore as a church we shall:
1. Host vocation-specific training and discipleship events by 2016
It is essential that we know how to be salt and light in the vocation that God calls us to; how our deep meditation on the gospel influences the way that we practice our profession or create our art. Hosting vocation-specific events allows groups of people from various professions (education, healthcare, business etc.) to get together, share experiences and open up new ways of being salt and light in that profession.
2. Provide avenues for ministry in society
As part of our commitment to moving through, we shall be partnering with various agencies who exist to challenge injustice, speak out against evil and promote truth, beauty and goodness. International Justice Mission is one such agency. We shall also be developing our mercy ministry opportunities within the church.
3. Foster greater awareness of our duty and opportunity to season the culture through engagement with all facets of society
As one prominent theologian and author has written, engagement with society is the most neglected ministry within the evangelical church. Therefore as a church we shall increase awareness of our call and duty within the world through continual teaching, application and encouragement to be salt and light in the world.
